The AI Tool Graveyard: Paperclip AI

Paperclip AI lets you run a “zero-human company.” You set up AI agents — a CEO, an Engineer — give them goals, and they self-organize. Task boards, org charts, budgets, delegation chains. It has 30k+ GitHub stars and a slick dashboard.

I pointed it at AI4Love and gave it real work. Research buyer objections. Build a prospect list. Analyze our pricing.

What I got: two agents waking up every hour, checking their inbox, finding nothing to do, and politely exiting. When tasks did get picked up, they’d stall, lose context on restart, and get stuck in “blocked” limbo. I was spending more time managing the agents than the agents were spending on actual work.

I was the manager of managers who managed nothing.

The lesson: Agent orchestration solves a coordination problem. If you’re a solo founder, you don’t have a coordination problem — you have an execution problem. Adding a management layer on top of one person doesn’t make you faster. It makes you an org chart.
