Still Standing: Raycast
Not every tool I try ends up in the graveyard. Some earn a permanent spot on the machine. Raycast is one of them.
It replaced Spotlight on my Mac and then quietly replaced about a dozen other things I didn’t realize I was doing the slow way. App launching, clipboard history, window management, snippets, quick calculations — all from one keyboard shortcut.
No onboarding. No configuration rabbit hole. No fans spinning. I hit the hotkey, typed what I wanted, and it just worked. Within a day it was muscle memory.
Why it stuck: It doesn’t try to be smart. It tries to be fast. No agents, no orchestration, no simulated societies. Just a tool that removes friction from the thing you were already doing.
The best tools don’t replace your workflow. They disappear into it.
